The Global Conference on Cloud Computing, Virtualization & Metaverse (MetaSphere 2026) will be held in Kolkata, India, on 21st & 22nd August, 2026. This conference is organized by the Department of Computer Application and Science, and IEM Centre of Excellence for Cloud Computing & IoT, Kolkata, India, in collaboration with Internet of Things and Applications Lab (iTHACA), Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Western Macedonia Campus, Kozani, Greece, and MetaMind Innovations (First spin-off of the University of Western Macedonia), Greece.

MetaSphere Overview

The aim is to foster cross-disciplinary dialogue, showcase cutting-edge work, and accelerate deployment of integrated systems that underpin future metaverse infrastructures.

  • The metaverse requires robust underlying infrastructure: scalable cloud, virtualization, edge computing, and distributed services.
  • Virtualization technologies (compute, network, storage) are foundational to how metaverse systems will scale, isolate, and orchestrate workloads.
  • Integrating real-world systems (IoT, digital twins, real-time simulation) with metaverse layers requires new architectural patterns.
  • Business, governance, security, privacy, economics, and user experience challenges abound; this conference addresses them jointly.
